Roan Mountain Tennessee is another area near Mitchell County and a great place to visit. Roan Mountain is located atop a 6,285 foot ridge on the North Carolina and Tennessee state line, and is known for its abundance of native wildflowers and beautiful rhododendrons. Here you can take in the naturally beautiful scenery and spend the day hiking around Roan Mountain State Park.

Spruce Pine, Bakersville and Burnsville are also very near to the Linville Gorge wilderness area and all the great attractions located within.
